Email for online stores in Ghent

Ghent has the Gentse Feesten every July and a big student population the rest of the year. Your email calendar can follow both.

July is busy, just not online

During the Gentse Feesten the city is outside, around the national holiday on 21 July. The summer solden run in July too. Choose deliberately: launch your sale before the festival, or wait until people are back at their screens.

  • Schedule campaigns ahead, so they go out while you are at the festival too.
  • Keep July emails short and readable on a phone.
  • Let flows do the routine work: abandoned cart and after purchase keep running.

A student city rhythm

Ghent is a big student city. The academic year shapes when people buy.

Start of the year

September and October: new rooms, new routines, new stuff.

Exam periods

Belgian universities hold exams in January and June. Expect less attention for long emails then.

Summer

Many students leave the city. A win-back flow brings them back in September.

Questions from Ghent stores

Should I pause emails during the Gentse Feesten?

Not necessarily. Keep flows running and send fewer, shorter campaigns. Check your reports afterwards to see what worked.

Can I target students?

Only with what you know. A segment of first-time buyers or a signup field works. Do not guess.

What do I mention for payment and delivery?

Bancontact for Belgian customers, and the carrier you use, often bpost.

You have enough solutions.
